Somebody's getting him out - he's only hitting about .260. It sure as heck isn't us.

But you know, it's funny you mention it - I was watching Palmiero's performance against us tonight and thinking about what a great hitter he's been throughout his career, and decided to look up some numbers. Do you realize he's now got 430 career home runs, and a career .294 batting average?

He's 37 years old and only once in the last 13 years has he played less than 156 games in a season. This guy is an easy hall of famer. Yet it's funny you never hear announcers say "...future hall-of-famer Rafael Palmeiro strides to the plate..." Yet they'll say that about much younger guys like I-Rod, Sosa, Piazza, etc. Whom the jury is arguably still out on.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that Raffy is just a quiet, workaday player, who never played on a championship team. I dunno, I've always admired the big Cuban slugger...
