Agrees to a one year contract...

The base salary matches Lofton's 2002 contract: $1,025,000, of which $525,000 is deferred until the end of the season. He can make an additional $475,000 in performance bonuses.

"We know he's not the player he was four or five years ago" (http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2003/0314/1523452.html)

As long as May never comes he'll do just fine.

He also doesn't have to worry about being turned into a platoon player by Jerry "The Tinkerer" Manuel. That is, unless of course Lloyd McClendon also "likes to tinker."

When he is healthy is a good player. Problem for Kenny is he doesn't stay healthy for too long anymore.

Lofton hasn't been healthy in years. He reminds me of that board game "Operation." He probably isn't capable of playing more than 120-130 games a season. I think his biggest problem last year was that Manuel played him nonstop the first five weeks of the season, and he had nothing left after that.

heh heh. I remember how damn good he was in April, so good that I traded for him on my Fantasy Team. Then he was Horrible the rest of the way. Cannot believe that happened......
he needs to stay in the National League, a weaker league and he should hit .280 over there

As long as he's in the Cubs division I hope he wins the MVP.
