I'm in. I'm tired of Frank getting a bad rap for things that are beyond his control (like injuries that prevent him from putting up big numbers).

Im In. I like when Big Frank Talks Hitting. And more hitting. and more hitting. hes responsible for some of the best quotes ever-on hitting. "some people were born to hit....im one of them" is Excellent. Remember when the Sox signed Albert Belle, and some other hitters throughout the Majors were criticizing the sox for being called the next "murderers row", and Thomas quip was "Thats Ok, let everyone else hit all the home runs, were just going to hit for Average!". Excellent Comeback.

Big Frank(along with Ray Durham) have been my favorite players since they made their appearance in White Sox uniforms.I think as the season rolls on and people begin to realize that "THE BIG HURT" is back, more and more people will be jumping on the Frank Thomas band wagon, that will carry us to the World Series.

The White Sox never had a hitter like Frank Thomas. Give the 1950's White Sox Frank Thomas in his prime and they win the pennant in 1955 and maybe 1957. A 1960's vintage FT gives the Sox additional pennants in 1964 and 1967 and maybe 1965. He has made mistakes but why is it that he seems to take such a heavy hit in the court of public opinion when others get a free pass? I'd much rather have a beer with Frank than shoot the breeze than have with one with say Sammy Sosa or Barry Bonds. I doubt that either of those two would give me the time of day. Definitely count me in.

Ooo! Can I be Minister for the Department of Redundancy Department?

Hurt can be a little odd and distracting from time to time but, as the best hitter in team history and a sure-fire Hall of Famer, he deserves props from Sox fans and the media.

Any club needs a set of rules and expectations, otherwise it is just a bunch of people saying, "Me 2!"

Anyone got any suggestions?

I have one:

Every time Frank comes to bat the members of this club have to give him a standing O and do their best to drown out any boos or otherwise negative sentiment other fans are expressing.

Posters and signs are a bonus.

Now it has to be seconded and then a consensus reached. This might take a while. Other members got suggestions?

:)

I have an idea, but it's somewhat nerdy. :D: Someone who has a supply of blank video tapes should try to record each of Frank's at bats this season. This could be used to make a highlight video, featuring some his important homeruns, clutch hits, etc.

Another idea is that we should try to choose Frank as our PTC as often as possible, and then we could figure out how many times he delivered during the season.

Some items for the charter:

As members of the Frank Thomas club we do hereby swear that:

1. Every time Frank comes to bat the members of this club have to give him a standing O and do their best to drown out any boos or otherwise negative sentiment other fans are expressing.

2. When the inevitable happens ( Thomas ropes a shot somewhere doing some damage ), if there are any Frank haters present, and those haters are also claiming to be Sox fans, if any members of this club catch them cheering the home run, rbi, or whatever, they will call out the two-faced rat for cheering Thomas when only moments before they were booing.

3. When Hurt fails, members of this club will deliver the same critical points of view as we would for any other Sox player.

Any more??

Go to where it says "Edit Profile"

Scroll down and click on the "Edit Signature" button. http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/images/edit_sig.gif

Use that box for your signature. If you want to put your "Champ Out..." in there you would simply type that in. If you wish to put a picture in your signature find the url of the picture and type in {img}www.theurlhere.com{/img} except use [] instead of {}.

All of this is explained on the Test board in the thread titled "Installing a signature". Of course with a picture that is already uploaded to the site it becomes even simpler than it explains there.

Jjav's explanation works for this picture - because it is already installed in the WSI database.

Four.

If it's not too late to join, sign me up. I may not always agree with what FT says or does, but I have a lot of respect for what he's done for the Sox...and will continue to do in 2003!

Hey, he's not the founder of the Frank Thomas Club for nothing!

I agree that the 1st round was quite a bit early to take him, but what the hell...at least you got the guy you wanted!

Oh don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that Thomas will prove himself yet again worthy of a first round pick!

And in honor of this newfound praise for the greatest man (yes thats right, greatest MAN, not just PLAYER) to ever wear a Sox uniform, I have written a poem for Mr. Big Hurt, which is included in my signature.

Excuse me while I go worship Frank...in a non-blasphemous sort of way.

I will never forget the numbers that Frank has put up in his career for the White Sox...... I can remember all those years when we had nobody....than he came and those numbers were fantastic.

I've said it all winter long when everyone wanted him outta here, and I'll stick by it now....... Frank will be back with a vengence and he is completely healthy now and the numbers will be back. Hall of Fame is a definite and I don't care what he says with his mouth, all I care about is how he hits for the White Sox and Frank knows how to hit!!!!

I'll gladly join the Frank Thomas fan club and to those of you who want to join an anti-Frank Thomas club...... go ahead, you probably like Sammy Sosa anyway so who needs you in this club. lol.

I have been a sox fan since the 70s. Frank Tomas has brought respect to the south side for a decade. Is he perfect...no. Frank has always been about winning. Only a fool would see different. This season like all the past seasons hinges on the output of Frank. He is the best player to wear the sox uniform in my lifetime. Life as a Sox fan without Frank would be like being a Cub fan (no hope...no future). If Frank hits the Sox walk away with the Central. If not it is going to be a long summer. Give Frank a break. He needs our support because he is the reason that the light at the end of the tunnel exists. I have personally been to many games that Frank's broad shoulders have carried what was a half-ass perfonmance by the rest of the team. If you do not know what I am talking about you need to visit the park more often. Frank is the only HOF'er to spend his career with the Sox in my lifetime. People should respect that. Maybe people need to do some researh before bashing frank:

I'm in.

The only reason its taken me this long is that I was taking time out from the board for a few weeks because the incessant Frank bashing was making me so furious, and I decided coming here was like coming to a neighborhood bar where there were regular patrons who annoyed the crap out of you. The best choice is to just stop coming.

I am on record earlier predicting Frank's performance this year: .320, 40, 120.

Did you miss the poll? Frank supporters outnumbered people who even mildly didn't like Frank 43-8, last I checked. It's just a couple people making noise.

And I'm starting to agree with you on the Frank numbers.
