View Full Version : 1983 All-Star Game poster

In light of the upcoming All Star game at U.S. Comiskey Park (the best of both worlds, I suppose), I thought I would throw out a question to those who are familiar with the 50th Anniversary All Star game poster that was found in some of the regular season Sox programs back in 1983. It shows a number of Sox greats over the years in their respective uniforms of that era. The last player is obviously Fisk in the '83 uni, but I swear it's also him in the early 80's softball-type uniform. Any truth to this? I'm not sure what sort of merchandise is out there now, but I'll be sure to get a 2003 poster and proudly hang it next to this one already on the wall.

Britt Burns is the pajama wearer in the poster.

Wow, I had that poster hanging on my wall for about 10 years. I wonder what happened to it.

The picture is also shown on the cover of the '83 Yearbook. I always thought it was Britt Burns too. From right to left: Fisk, Burns, Allen, Aparacio, Minoso, Fox, and Appling. Chronologically, the uniforms Nellie and Minnie are wearing are backwards. Minoso has the '59 uni on, but Nellie's got the mid 60's uniform (pinstripes but no red outline around the SOX). Cool rendering. If you were going to include a player from the '87-'90 era, would it be Baines? I guess Frank would have to wear the silver and black if he was included.

I used to have that one and one that showed Old Comiskey with fireworks above it and the lyrics to the Hey Song. Does anyone know where I could get either of those?

Still have my poster, never unfolded tucked away in the original program. Now to dig it out of the 100's of yearbooks and programs I have!

I'd go with Ozzie Guillen, Ivan Calderon or Bobby Thigpen.
