Jon Rauch (0-0, 4.50) vs. Elmer Dessens (1-0, 0.00)

Let's get this second game of the day started! Good old split squad action. I believe highly regarded Sox prospect Kris Honel is scheduled to pitch, I'll be listening closely.

I'm listening in too, but not sure if I can do some play-by-play, but I will comment on some key things that I notice....

Champ out trying to get some work done, but White Sox baseball has to come FIRST...

Rauch getting hit hard in the early going here with two base hits in a row...

Champ out to get something to drink... :gulp:

Three singles for Arizona. It's 1-0 D-Backs.

That's three singles in a row, 1-0 D-Backs now...

Champ out and seriously contemplating getting in on some Counter Strike action rather than listening in to this game that could turn out to be a "barnburner"...

That's an "erra" on a toss home, off the glove off Olivo...terrible throw to Rauch...

2-0 D-Backs now...

Champ out to play some Counter Strike, he may be back, or may actually be here and pretend not to be...

Rauch is not looking good. Thank goodness it's the first week of March.

Jimenez is on base. Valentin hit the ball hard in his first spring at-bat. There is now one out. Thomas is at the plate.

Frank 2 for 11......

RKMeibalane

Thomas struck out. Daubach is up. Jimenez is still at first with two outs.

RKMeibalane

Jimenez moved to second on a ball in the dirt. Let's see if Daubach can drive him in.

Another walk. Two on, two out. Lee at the plate.

Ed Farmer just made a joke about Darren Baker. LOL!

Lee struck out. The Sox get nothing. Moving on to the top of the second. Arizona leads 3-0.

Is anyone going to discuss the game in chat??

Thomas sounds pretty frustrated from the way Farmer and Rooney are describing it.

They also think he won't make the team. I'm taking everything they say with a grain of salt. Frank seems upbeat and positive according to everything I've read.

Do you really think Jerry Reinsdorf is going to pay him 5 million dollars to sit?

Doesn't Elmer Dessens suck? Why did we NOT get any runs off of him? Is it the corpse ball line-up today?

Champ out to find out how much Elmer sucks...

What's up with Carlos Baerga??? He's seems to be hitting everything that we throw at him...every time I hear him up to bat, all I hear is base hit...

Champ out to find out what illegal drug/supplement regiment Baerga used in the offseason...

My statement was more of a joke than anything else. I wasn't the least bit serious. I was referring to Farmer's comments about Frank needing to perform well this spring in order to earn a roster spot.

Actually, Dessens is a very good pitcher. He will be Arizona's number three this year behind Schilling and Johnson, and IMHO would have been a 20 game winner last year had he not played for Cincy. IIRC, he had near the worst run support in the NL last year. According to baseballreference.com he was 6th in ERA last year with a 3.03. That's pretty good pitching.

Sox lose 4-3 in the end, Miles, Valentin and Jimenez with the RBIs. Good pitching effort for both teams(well, except for Rauch)

Yeah, sorry, I was thinking of the wrong guy, I was thinking of Ron Villone's stats. when i thought of Elmer Dessens for some reason...My bad, he's actually pretty good...

Champ out working hard and trying to close all the porn pop-up windows that seem to keep popping up ever since he "accidentally" visited one unnamed "graphic" site...
