Apologies if this column (http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/arvia/x04-ard11.htm) has already been posted.

Arvia speculates that a 3-year deal for for Buehrle would be somewhere around $9.5M. If Buerhle declines and goes to arbitration in '04 and '05, based on recent arbitration cases, Arvia estimates his earnings at $11.43M. Of course, he has to stay healthy and pitch reasonably well to get that.

Looking at those first-year eligible arbitration cases and the thing that stuck out to me was that those guys (Burnett & Garcia) didn't make a killing. So it seems to me that Buehrle not only has to stay healthy and pitch well this year, but next year too in order to surpass the estimated $9.5M the Sox have offered him.

FWIW, I think if he does sign for the next 3 years at $9.5M, it would be a good deal for the Sox.
