Just had a friend bet me that the cubs would finish at least 10 games above the white sox. I thought that was so ludicris that I doulbled it to 20 and he accepted. Now Im pretty sure he made this bet to just piss me off but hey 20 bucks is 20 bucks. There is absoloutely no way that is gonna happen.

I've had a running bet with a flubs fan buddy of mine. Best record each year - $25. I had to stop collecting because it got so sad. I think he owes me a couple hundred currently...

I too have cashed in on the Sox in the past couple of years... so much so that I don't think my imported-Cubs fans will not take the bet this year.

THE BET: $5 per win differential...
Scrubs Sox
2000 - 65/97 -> 95/67 (30 X 5 = 150)
2001 - 88/74 -> 83/79 (5 X -5 = -25) *blemish
2002 - 67/95 -> 81/81 (14 X 5 = 70)

:smile: Can you see how much your friend would be willing to bet me? :smile:

Betting cub fans has a better return then the stock market. Even before it started to spiral a year or two ago.

Only 20$. You could have the tilte to his car, mortgage to his house, whatever you want. Although, and I mean no offense to you if this guy is your friend, he is a Cubbie fan so he probably doesn't own a car and lives with his parents.

Try doing it over the past 15 years. :-)

A buddy from high school and I have had a running bet every year since 1990. He hates coming over to my house when I show him my awesome Home entertainment center that he has paid for. (I am not kidding). :-)

Why do I get the feeling you would pay off the winners in Canadian dollars?

I had to come back see what others had posted. I swear. Cub fans also seem to enjoy the beating they take sometimes. What I said a few posts back was true about the cubs being a safer bet then the stock market. I know a handful of idiots that are willing every year to start dishing out money on the beloved cubs.
Very True Story: My brother has a circle of friends along with our family that is basically all Sox fans. One guy is a cub fan. Every spring when the hops and barely are flowing we all make our annual bet that is $100 dollars on who will have a better record. Every fall he pays up. He even had a side bet after the season the cubs were good a few years back(I forget the year, plus that was our only recent losing year with our Sox bet) that the next year the cubs would finish in 1st. It was a cool $150 pay up. Now figure it is a room of Sox fans but the guy is legit and pays up to everyone every year. :gulp: cub fans are such suckers! :gulp:

well unfortunately when I tried to triple the bet, he rejected. I mean I dont know about you but I'll bet against a team labeled the "lovable losers" anytime.
