The announcement is about the new "Code of Conduct". It is posted at the top of every forum (above the stuck threads). It is titled "WSI Rules of Conduct from daver". The COC also appears at the bottom of every single page on this website in the same line with the "Contact us" and "WhiteSoxInteractive.com".

I have to ask about this:

By registering and making posts on the White Sox Interactive Forums, you agree to abide by the Forum Rules of Use, both stated and unstated.

By agreeing to follow unstated rules, exactly what am I agreeing to?

I don't think so - after all, you can't make out much in that photo since all the women are about a centimeter long. If anyone thought it was offensive, they would have said so and you would have heard about it. Plus the link would have magically disappeared...

so since it says

You agree, through your use of the Forums, that you will not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, libelous, inaccurate, rude, racist, disrespectful, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, threatening, obscene, profane, pornographic, racially or ethnically offensive, invasive of a person's privacy, or which otherwise violates any law.

Does it mean that we can't post pictures or quotes of Sosa or Mariotti anymore?

I'll grant you a special dispensation as far as those are concerned.

does that also mean you can't say anything about the Sox play? cause there is plenty of things said during the season, that, by an anal person's P.O.V, could fit into any of those categories

Kinda long.

When I can't log in one day, I'll know I broke one of the rules.

Is the term "anal person" in violation of the rules?

Great site and I love reading the very well thought out posts here. While I am not a frequent poster, actually this is my first, I am bit frightened by the prohibitions mentioned in the code of conduct. It seems the idemnification clause would cover WSI from liability regarding individual posts so why the laundry list of prohibtions. Additionally, who will be the final arbitor and is there a review or appeal board? Here are my thoughts on two clauses.

1. (This is a bit subjective and would not hold up to a legal challenge. The following terms need to be defined since they do not have general accepted legal meanings:rude, racist, disrespectful, vulgar, hateful, harassing, profane, racially or ethnically offensive. Secondly, these terms to not violate any law: inaccurate, rude, racist, disrespectful, vulgar, hateful, profane, racially or ethnically offensive.)

2. You agree to not violate the rights of others, such as content which infringes any copyright, trademark, patent, trade-secret or violate any right of privacy or publicity, or otherwise violates any applicable law or reputation. ( This is a minor point, but you need to rewrite this so as to seperate the violation of law from the violation of reputation which, I assume you mean the harm of one's reputation in violation of a law as mentioned earlier in the clause. )

Basically, I think you need to hire a new attorney to review the language a bit. I support the idea of protecting WSI from frivolous lawsuits but I am fearful that the new code may not accomplish this.

This is a fairly standard Internet Code of Conduct with some stuff thrown in just for WSI - like which rooms to use and the stuff about signatures. People asked to have it codified, so we did.

I'll make it simple: Follow the "Golden Rule" - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you and there won't be any problems.

Still, thanks for the input and welcome aboard...

No. You can curse, just don't try to trick the filters. Exchanging "$$" for "SS" and similar.
