Does Wunsch HAVE TO be on the team now?

From Today's Trib:
Reliever Kelly Wunsch is the Sox's new player representative. Kenny Lofton and Jeff Liefer had the position last year. I'm assuming a minor leaguer can't be the player rep, so does Wunsch have to make the team now?

No. They'll just elect someone else if he doesn't make the team. But my guess is he'll make the team.

A player never has to be on the team based on his status as player rep. Anyone who is a member of the MLBPA can be a rep. It's voted on by the players. If Wunsch doesn't make the team the team will vote on a new player rep.

I think he'll make the team, he should be fully recovered from his injury now. That side arm is killer.
