Only majors are in this so no MLB or arena football. The Sox rank 98/120 overall and 18 in baseball.

Like all such rankings, one can poke holes. However, it is a pretty interesting snapshot. All Chicago teams do rather poorly, and that "feels" accurate. The Cubs and Sox are about the same with the Cubs pulling way ahead on stadium and the Sox making up for this in wins.

How in the world are the Sox behind the Memphis Grizzlies and the Expos?

Am I just misunderstanding this, or does it sound like the survey believes that if we accepted Jerry Reinsdorf we'd be better fans and rank higher as a franchise? Even ESPN thinks it's "our fault."

Seriously, I can't see the Bears ranking that low. And the Diamondbacks so high? Who's kidding whom?

It is all about what the fans said about their team. The Bears fans dislike current ownership thus they are lower. Also the Bears don't win much so that lowers the bang for the bucks ratio. The DB were the world series champ when the survey was taken so their number should be boosted.

When the Sox are 98 out of 121 but 2 out of 5 in Chicago, what in the world does that say about Chicago overall?

uh, The White Sox are 85/118, the ownership is 98/120
