Signed one year deal with an option for two. Let's hope that last season was a fluke (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb_news.jsp?ymd=20030115&content_id=191788&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp).

About every other year, the cubs do this sort of thing - aggregate a bunch of average veterans, players off of fluke seasons, etc., etc., etc. The expectations are high, but come july, the only expectation will be whether they crack the 70 win mark. ON rare occasion, the average ball players come together and create a fluke year, like that 5 or so years ago that allowed cub fans to celebrate their "wild card championship" but which quickly disappears until the next decade.
I'm not worried.

Re: Guthrie to Cubs

You didn't answer his question.

Did they sign Arlo Guthrie,a folk singer that is pushing 60 years old?

Did they sign Woody Guthrie,a folk singer that has been pushing up weeds for thirty some years?

Or was it a different Guthrie altogether?
