Charlotte fodder. He'll probably start at short, with Hummell at second. Non-prospect. Sorry if this stuff was posted about him already.

How about the minor leaguer the Sox sent to NY (Lantigua?)? Is he a prospect?

Also, does Nunez have a skill that would give him some value in a utility role (like amazing speed or spectactular defense)?

As per Baseball America's site: Lantigua, 22, is also a former Dodgers farmhand. Originally signed in 1998, he was released after a year in the system and since has blossomed into a decent prospect. Armed with a 90-94 mph fastball with run and sink, and a good sweeping slider, Lantigua went 7-7, 4.38 last year between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte. He struck out 107 in 138 innings.

Lantigua is a prospect, but he's not very special. He should start in Columbus for the Yankees.

Well, from his stats, he looks like a bad version of Willie Harris. He can run a little (50+ stolen bases in '99 and '00) I guess. 30 errors in 123 games in 2001. Can't walk. No power.

In fact, Nunez will probably be a back-up in Charlotte. Aaron Miles will start at second, Hummell at short.
