Borrowing from Phil Rogers logic.....
In acquiring Colon, the Sox now have 4 starters coming off 30/190 seasons in 2002. (w/ Buehrle, Wright, Garland)
The eight teams in the 2002 playoffs were the only ones that entered the 2002 season with at least 3 starters coming off 30/190 seasons in 2001. The Angels coming in to 2002 had five.
For perspective, coming into 2003, six of the returning playoff teams (Angels, Yankees, Giants, Braves, D-Backs, and Cardinals) have only two 30/190 starters.
In addition, the Sox now have four of the six 30/190 pitchers in their division.
If they can stay healthy (knock on wood), there is a lot to be excited about on the South Side.
This was a fantastic deal for the Sox.
