From Globe

general manager Theo Epstein seems intent on signing another first baseman either to complement Jeremy Giambi or allow the Sox to shift Giambi to DH if he fails with the glove. Epstein's prime target appears to be free agent David Ortiz, who hit .272 with 20 homers, 75 RBIs, and a .339 on-base percentage last season for the Twins.

I guess Ortiz is really pounding the ball in the Winter Leagues too

zzzzzz Its 2003?

I don't know that we need Ortiz. This team is loaded with first baseman/DH's (Leifer, Thomas, Konerko). The Bo Sox can have him.

agreed. who's he going to take at bats from? thomas? konerko? those are two of our three highest players. i doubt he'd be at all agreeable to taking 150 at bats a year as a part time player for us.
