"Tanyon is a quality addition for us, he is a strong, dependable pitcher who has proven he can deliver 200 innings in a season," Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi said.

He can also deliver 18 losses in a season. Anybody remember the game last year in Tampa against the Sox where Sturtze smashed the dugout water cooler after getting yanked from the game, and then shoved manager Hal McRae when McRae tried to calm him down? He was something like 1-11 at the time. Yeah, that's a "quality addition" for the Jays. Anytime you can get somebody like that for a million $, you gotta go for it.

J.P.'s not looking for an ace in Sturtze. He just wants someone to eat up innings so he doesn't have to use one of his younger pitchers yet.

Thanks for clearing that up. It's nice to see such a classy individual get another chance, not to mention another million $.
