I think Wilson (http://www.baseball-reference.com/w/wilsopa02.shtml) would be a good signing for the White Sox. I'd much rather have him than the terrible Todd Ritchie. Wilson has been somewhat dissapointing, in each of the last two years has has put up a weak first half and great second half. I know it's not exactly scientific but I have a feeling this guy could flourish working with a legit organization. Cory Lidle did a great job outside of the Tampa organization. When Lidle escaped the dark Tampa dungeon he was only a year younger than Wilson is now.

Well, that rules out the Sox.

Ritchie
1999 PIT 15 9 3.49
2000 PIT 9 8 4.81
2001 PIT 11 15 4.47
2002 CWS 5 15 6.06

Wilson
1996 23 NYM NL 5 12 5.38
2000 27 TBD AL 11 7 3.35
2001 28 TBD AL 8 9 4.88
2002 29 TBD AL 6 12 4.83

Maybe I'm missing something here. Can you members of the Paul Wilson fan club explain to me how much better he is than Ritchie?? Thanks. From the numbers, both had one good and miserable season and two mediocre years. I'm not seeing the upgrade here.

This makes sense. Sox cheap their way out. Could of had Millwood, instead bring on their savior Paul WIlson. I have nothing wrong with Wilson, but for god sakes, Jerry, pay some money. I'm not asking for a 60 mill payroll, just 55 mill and we could of afforded him.

For pete sake were spending 3 mill on Ritchie. Cut him loose and spend an extra one or two and get Millwood, one of the better pitchers in the majors.

PISSED OFF SOX FAN

Well if you look at the numbers Wilson was never as bad as Ritchie and when he came close it was when Wilson was 23. Wilson has had better strike out rates than Ritchie consistently and Ritchie has pitched in front of better defenses. Wilson also isn't coming off a season where he was one of the 5 worst starters in baseball. I'd be happy to have him around.
