...is apparently out of the running for our backup catcher. Signed with the Cardinals. Which means that is one less guy that could be an alternative to resigning Alomar. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

I feel confident that Alomar won't come back for '03. He never really didn't do much for me. And I was the first Sox fan to enjoy and embrace the Mark Johnson departure. why can't we just work with Olivia and Paul behind the plate???

Because Josh Paul can't catch a cold and Miguel Olivo has played a grand total of about 10 major league games. We need some kind of veteran presence, and I am not talking about Mark D'Alessandro.
