Ugh. Top five in walks four years in a row. His ERA+ last year was 105 in an extreme pitchers' park. And we'd give up our third or fourth best pitcher for him?

also of note is that prospectus rated ortiz the fifth most abused pitcher in the majors last season. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/current/pap2002.htm

And Jim Parque is at the bottom of the list. Forget Colon, Maddux, Ortiz....give Butter the #2 spot back. Yikes :D:

For a chuckle, check out the 'Similarity Scores' at the bottom of the page and see who they say Ortiz is most similar to stat-wise at his current age. There's obviously some flaws in that system.

i'm not saying that's a reason not to acquire ortiz, just something to be aware of. if you look at the list the best pitchers are pretty evenly spread out. every good pitcher isn't abused.
