View Full Version : Torre may actually have to manage

Considered the worst manager in mlb while with the Cardinals, Torre may actually have to manage this year without the $135 mil payroll. Anyone on this board could have filled out the yankmee line-up card and paraded out pitcher after pitcher.
Who am I kidding, after the yankmees sign Matsui, Colon or Vazquez he'll go back to sitting in the dugout belching, scratching his ass and discussing old war stories with Zimmer.

From Newsday:
New York's payroll was about $135 million this season, by far the highest in the major leagues, and owner George Steinbrenner wants it to go down.

"It's going to be something less than what we had, I guess. It was aimed at George, and they're going to get their pound of flesh," Torre said Wednesday night at a benefit for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America.

Would you rather have an ass-scratcher who wins, or a tinkerer who doesn't?

Neither, I want an owner who'll spend $$$ so any idiot could manage the team.
