Have the Sox said anything about their marketing slogan for next season? With that in mind, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

Here's mine:

White Sox Baseball: He Still Likes to "Tinker"

All-Star game takes place in July, however the Cubs will make the 8 mile trek to Comiskey in June, so I can see how you had things crossed up. :D:

Speaking of slogans, (imagine the next few words in teal) Cubs brilliant marketing director John McDonough (end teal) has come up with "Why not us?"

I'm surprised nobody here has answered yet.

Actually, Vic, that's a pretty appropriate slogan. I really think the Flubby front office is hoping to catch lightning in a bottle a la Anaheim. And really, why not them?

Of course, there are probably 10-12 teams in baseball I could say that about, too, so...

I can't believe the Cubs are serious about a "Why not us?" team slogan. The inherent problem with a slogan -- especially a slogan that asks such a question -- is the response it could generate from the media and the public when the team loses. I live in Wisconsin, but I'm guessing some Chicago baseball writer has already answered the Cubs question. Sports radio is too busy putting selling future Wrigley World Series tickets to have noticed some obvious answers.

A national columnists actually rated the White Sox's 2001 slogan -- "It's time" -- as one of baseball's best in a preseason column. Essentially, he wrote that Cleveland's time had gone and Minnesota's time hadn't come. But when I made the long drive home after brutal Sunday Sox games in April and May and saw the "It's time" signs, they didn't bring a smile to my face.

The fact that so many pessimistic/realistic Sox fans can have so much fun with the idea of a slogan should show the marketers that they need to tread lightly in the area. Unfortunately, the Sox need some marketing. The Cubs don't.

Man, you have to love America. Everything is a competition these days :D:

I don't know about your Finance professor, but your literature professor should give you points for probably the most intellectual POTW I've seen here...

I'd put it on the left side under the average posts, but I'm just a simple site worker. We'd probably have to dig up the old ones though, which would be long and pointless.
