DESPITE the fact that we just acquired a brand new closer, our beloved manager is still insisting on using his little "closing committee".

It's not a problem if he's only talking about letting Marte & Osuna close out an occasional game or two. That's all that will happen. Koch is the man.

"Yup."

My first thought was that it's a good idea to let Marte close games since KW has said he's our closer of the future. But then I realized KW said he hopes to have Koch under contract through 2005. And I have no idea why JM would want "el canon" closing games now that we have Koch. So it looks like JM will not define each pitcher's role again in 2003.

O Yippee! I suppose it's only a matter of time before Koch realizes that morons run this organization and that he is better off elsewhere.

somtimes manuel seems to just say things like this even though we all know he won't follow through with them. i do hope marte gets the occasional save so that we are careful not to overuse koch after he pitches as much as he did last year. i don' t think that there's much to worry about.

Couldn't that have waited until AFTER the team locked him into a 3 year contract? Think this comment changes his negotiating position? It would for me...
