Trade winds abruptly switched directions on Saturday. After the Marlins and Rockies announced hours earlier that their six-player trade was off, Florida and Charles Johnson worked out contract kinks that sealed the deal. Further details upcoming.

Daily Herald reported if the deal went through then the Cubs would try to go after Hampton from Florida.

THe whole story

This six-player deal, consummated days ago, was held up until the two keys with no-trade clauses signed off on it. Outfielder Juan Pierre, traveling with Hampton, and reliever Vic Darensbourg and infielder Pablo Ozuna, packaged with Johnson and Preston Wilson, were just along for the ride.
