Buehrle hit with line drive at Japan... (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb_news.jsp?ymd=20021111&content_id=173416&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp)

Oy.... No good could have come from this...

Luckily, it doesn't sound too bad.

And since when is he a "Right Hander?"

Somebody please remind of what the hell Buehrle is doing over there in the first place? Is that a team decision, a requirement under the CBA that chosen players attend, or decided on a player-by-player basis? I just don't see any possible good that can come from it, particularly for a pitcher.

Didn't we learn our lesson with Sirotka finally blowing out his arm while pitching there.

$100,000 plus all expence paid trip to Japan for two. That is what Mark is getting from this trip.

This is why the Sox were waiting for Buehrle to return before talking contract.

Maybe if the cheap-ass Sox hadn't screwed Buehrle around during contract negotiations last winter, he wouldn't have felt compelled to earn the $100,000 by going to Japan.

No, the extra $50K or whatever it was wouldn't have changed his mind, probably. Young players who are paid near minimum always will jump at that kind of money for that amount of work.

But how about the US losing two times in a row to Japan? Wow.

The US isn't putting its best game out there. First off they don't want to get hurt and they are having a great time over there. Plus it doesn't hurt to put the home over.

Is "Godzilla" pounding Buehrle an indication of things to come next year after he signs that 2 year, 28 million dollar deal with the Yankees?

Our Little Leaguers kicked their ass though.

Final line of Buehrle:
3 innings
5 hits
4 runs
4 earned runs
0 walks
0 strikeouts

Our starting pitching is pretty bad.

Huh? Are you suggesting that Buehrle's outing in a meaningless exhibition several months after the season ended says more about how good he is than his 19-12 record and 3.50 ERA last year (or his 16 wins the year before)?

No I was referring to the US starting pitching. Besides Buehrle and Colon we don't have anyone spectacular.
