Red Sox will have a World Championship within five years if this falls through.

As for the A's, they have Depodesta and Epstein waiting in the wings, so I will shed no tears for them.

I feel like I'm a fan of the wrong Sox. Hiring James was a nice move and now landing the best GM in the game is amazing unless they wind up giving Pedro up as compensation, somehow I doubt that will happen.

Any word on what Podesto(sp.?)'s contract runs? I think KW has a year or two left and I'm hoping the timetables match up

I'm glad he's staying in Oakland. Beane with $100 million dollar payroll is scary.

It's Depodesta and since he's an assistant he's pretty much fair game to be hired at any time. 99% of the time teams allow front office men to leave to take a higher position in another organization.

Boston could have had him by offering him all the grass he could smoke.
Then he would have been known as Boston's baked Beane.

Boston should've (and still should) lobby for Paul DePodesta, Harvard graduate with a degree in economics, his wife went to Brandeis in Waltham, Mass. That would be a perfect fit.
