To help pay for player contracts

In this offseason of Yankees cost-cutting, George Steinbrenner is taking yet another bite out of his employees' wallets. According to multiple team sources, Steinbrenner is threatening to eliminate the dental plans of approximately 150 employees by Jan. 1.

trust me, those are the lucky ones... as an employee of the NYY, i've seen about 50 people outright fired/laid off since the Yanks tailspin in the playoffs last month... Ol' George has to clear the payroll for the new Japanese sensation...

With respect to those employees who have to go through all this, I've got to wonder...

If Steinbrenner owned the Sox and produced four or five World Championships in the past twenty years, would we all be as "righteously indignent" about this?

Just wondering.

i believe we would! do you think anyone loved him when the bulls were pulling in those championships?
i think we'd be happy for whatever players were involved and there would be a certain pride there, but we'd still all feel the owner (in this case GS) was a complete #$$@&%!
just as we feel JR is a complete #$$@&%!
