Yet more evidence of the joyful experience that is baseball at that "hallowed shrine" on the North Side.

Anyone else notice this telling little revelation?...

The next batter, Aaron Boone, smacked a homer our way. A gang of a dozen men bull-rushed (bun-rushed?) the guy about to catch the ball. He jumped. The dozen jumped. Two men sandwiched him hard, but he held on. He fell hard to the ground, beers following onto his head.

He held on and yelled, ''Anyone have napkins?'' He stuffed the ball into his coat pocket. Someone handed him another ball, and he threw that one onto the field.

There's proof that the Flubbie tradition of throwing back the home run ball is just as a past WSI article claimed: bogus.

This should not be a surprise. This same columnist did another piece earlier this summer about how much fun the Cubs were back in the 1970s when he was a kid, even though he admits they stunk. This columnist deserves our pity for not knowing any better, not our hatred.
