I am hoping to go Father's Day to the game and saw a giveaway Sox polo to the first 10,000 fans. Anyone here been on Father's Day and/or know how full the stadium gets? I'm tailgating and want that shirt so want to make sure I get in early enough but want to leave plenty of time for the tailgate. Thanks everyone!!!

You mean you won't be watching the final round of the US Open at Pebble Beach?

Actually if you're a golf fan and the Open being played on the west coast you will probably be able to see a White Sox win and get home in time to see the back nine of the Open.

As far as attendance, there will probably be a big crowd because the Yankees are in town, I would get my tickets ASAP.

The thing you need to think about is being in that first 10,000. People line up insanely early for a decent giveaway. Get there as early as you can, get a decent parking spot and keep an eye on the lines forming.

Based on previous experience with 10,000 item giveaways -- at games with lower attendance than you are probably looking at on a decent-weather Fathers' Day -- I think you will need to be in line well before the gates open. Keep an eye on your nearest gate and remember that there multiple other lines just as long as the one you see.

Enjoy the tailgate and don't worry about the polo. The next day or two there will be lots on ebay/facebook marketplace for sale. I've gotten lots of SGA items that way for around $15-$20 an item.

+1. The time you spend with your family/friends tailgating is worth far more than the give-away.

+2. In fact, if you want my polo when my season-end box of giveaways comes, you can have it. PM me your address and if you pay shipping or want to pick it up from me, it's all yours.

My wife refers to that box as "the big box of crap from the White Sox." :D:

Plus you can normally pick up the giveaways on Ebay for $20 or less the next day.

Thanks for the feedback. My takeaways:

I really miss my "big box of crap" I got when I had my season tix. Some gems in there.
I'm a huge US Open fan and already debated even going to the game. Love your point that I'll be back in time for a lot of the back nine.
Appreciate the offer for your shirt. Will take you up on PMing you.
I won't line up before gates even open for this. My son and I will be throwing the baseball and grilling in Lot C.
This is why I love this message board. Been away for a year but miss the interaction. GO SOX!!!

Just to be clear, I wasn't advising that you forgo the tailgate to stand in line; I was (I thought) responding to your question about what it would take to score the give-away shirt that day. The other options are much more fun.

I am about 225 miles out. We get to a game realistically about every 3-4 years. I am going to the Saturday night game before Father's Day, and based on the White Sox website ticket graphic online where I purchased tickets, it is probably 90% sold out. Probably not many tickets left for the Sunday matinee.
