I could be wrong but I think teams are allowed to deal through the end of the season but any player not on the 25-man roster by August 31 can't be on the post-season roster.

That is correct but you can have exceptions for injuries and such. This happen to former Sox Don Paul as the Sox traded him after Aug 31 to a contender.

You would think somebody would take a flyer on Royce by now. A high fielding percentage veteran infielder whose bat is hot should be an attaraction to a contender. He could not possibly damage a club house in one month. Best of all a team could get him for nothing.

The word must be out on Royce around the league.
