We should get a petition going to fire Robin, and maybe our front office might listen to us fans for once. Enough is enough.....

Although I am not a fan of Ventura as manager, I think the team has much larger problems than him. Remember when Ventura was hired, the Sox didn't even interview other candidates. That says a lot.

It should be a "Lets' fire Kenny" petition, then let things roll down from there.

think about it.. if Robin is launched, then the same people who hired him, will be responsible for finding his replacement.. Unless there is a HUGE switch in organizational philosophy (doubtful) it will be a lateral move

It is obvious that not much is going to change Kenny Williams' mind and we will be stuck with Ventura for the next two seasons.

Our only hope might be if Sox fans can come together and organize a public campaign (petition, rally, etc.) to appeal to Ventura to resign.

I really doubt that Ventura or anyone from the organization reads this board or listen to radio call-in shows, but Ventura seems to be a reasonable, caring individual. He might recognize a strong public outcry from Sox fans and do the right thing like Sandberg. Ventura would be stepping down from a large contract, but I am sure JR would find a spot for him in the organization.

Do any of the WSI veterans have any idea where to begin?

I suggested the same idea in a previous thread. Just tell me where to sign!

And they had to talk him into it. I'm pretty sure that has literally never happened in the history of sports.

This is where the problem lies. I'll sign a Fire Kenny petition in a heartbeat.

Read an interesting bit in the papers today (Both the Tribune and Sun-Times are full of Sox stories and columns).

I had never heard this before.

The story said that Ventura was not Kenny's "first-choice."

Who was?

According to the story Kenny offered the job to Konerko, whom he wanted to be a "player / manager." :o:

Konerko turned him down because it would have been to much to try to do.

Wow.....

Agree since we can't fire the owner.

The Sox need a complete house cleaning! Fire Williams and Cooper who have lived long enough off 2005. Unload Ventura and his coaching staff. Unload Flowers, Ramirez, Danks and bring up some of the deserving young players. Keep your core players Sale, Abreu, Rodon, Robertson, Eaton, and Garcia and move whatever the other players might net you in valuable assets. Do not just give LaRoach or Cabrerra away. Find a real MLB manager and staff that can actually motivate this team and bring it back from the dead. This team at this point has just been unbearable to watch.

^^^i agree with you, it makes me sick when i turn on the game only to see us blow whatever lead we have because our manager is retarded and leaves pitchers in to long or brings in the wrong person from the bullpen. I swear he manages to lose not to win....tired of spending money on this team for below average results.....i guess the good thing is, that we should have one of the top picks in the draft again next year!

I bet Kenny loves seeing this team play like ****, since he didnt get his wish granted this off season by going to Toronto like he wanted....ugh im so upset by how much this team sucks....i pray for a turnaround every night we play but time has run out imo...

Every time Williams talks to the media I see his mouth being controlled by a hand in his back. That holds true if its about the first choice for manager, only having 50 cents, moves can be made if people come to the park, no ones at fault except the players etc. My feelings on Williams are totally undecided. I like Hahn because he hasnt said those kind of things but that may change if another mouthpiece is needed.

Good gracious.
Who would have been hired had Ventura turned it down? Bill Melton, or would they have just given it to Baines?

How about we start a GoFundMe and buy the team?

I'm pretty sure you can, maybe you're thinking of the rule change that says a manager cannot also be an owner?

This came up in the press at the time it happened. I remember Konerko was quoted about it. He was flattered, but did not want to juggle so much.

Yep. I'm blown away that people are acting like this is news. This story was out at the time, Konerko commented on it, Kenny commented on it, it's been out there since it happened.

One of the biggest revelations of the Robin Ventura news conference Tuesday was that White Sox general manager Ken Williams didn't deny a New York Daily News report that he considered slugger Paul Konerko for the manager's job.

"That report is not false," Williams said Tuesday after Ventura was formally announced.

"It was considered long enough for me to realize that Paul is a very cerebral person and he would probably drivehimself nuts right now playing and managing at the same time," Williams said when asked how seriously he considered Konerko.

Given the poor play and the soap opera that was going on with Ozzie I was on "vacation" around the middle of August so no I didn't know about it.

It's impossible to pull off, but If there was a way to conduct a complete stadium walk out right after the pregame ceremonies of the 2005 reunion. Now that would really make a statement and embarrass the hell out of this team the way they have embarrassed us fans since 2006.

I pretty much am. Don't watch or follow much. Like so many others here basically I check the score, read the papers the next day and that's it.

Another season with no passion on my part. I miss spending summers deeply involved in baseball since when the Sox are brutal I don't watch much other baseball.

Why torture myself by seeing teams that actually know how to do things...like catch the ball, run the bases and hit the ball.
