Worth a shot. He's given up two runs or less and pitched six innings or more in each of his last four outings at AAA. Let's see what he can do.

So you're for Beck starting - bringing up a AAA guy with decent numbers as of late but not for giving Kottaras or anyone else a shot at replacing Flowers who is horrible. Interesting...

Hopefully he's more like Rodon rather than most AAA starters who come up for spot starts.

I'm pleased to see him get his shot. But he is a sinker baller and our defense stinks.

Stop embarrassing yourself. Beck is a 24-year-old prospect. Kottaras is a 32-year-old journeyman.

The only reason your boy Kottaras is playing at all in AAA is because Kevan Smith got hurt about 10 days ago. Do you even realize what you're calling for? You want the backup at AAA to be recalled to start behind the plate for the Sox. Ridiculous.

If Minnesota is in first place today than I still have hope that the Sox will turn things around! Just please get a catcher who can actually play the position. Rather stay positive and see what happens.

The Sox just called up Daniel Webb as the 26th player today. I thought it was going to be Chris Beck to start? Is there another player being sent down or going on the DL to make way for Beck?

Can't they replace Webb with Beck as the 26th man after the first game?

Defense, I have to admit, is a lot better with Sanchez at 2B and Beckham at 3B. It wouldn't be the worst idea to have those guys in the lineup for Game 2.

I don't think it works that way. Otherwise, the rule would essentially allow a team to bring in two guys for a doubleheader.

No, to start Beck in the second game, the Sox will have to make a roster move (maybe sending Noesi to AAA or doing something with Danks?) after Game 1 but before Game 2.

RHP Zach Isler promoted to AAA Charlotte to take Chris Beck's slot.

I believe Noesi is out of options so if it's him, he would be DFA'd. Maybe Danks to the DL (inflamed ERA) or Rodon back to Birmingham or Carroll to Charlotte?

Or Avi to the DL.

Conor Gillaspie will start Game 2 of the doubleheader. Avisail Garcia sounds doubtful today but he is improving.

Maybe. But if they were going to do it, why wait till the second game to make the move? It would also leave us with way too many arms and not enough bats.

#WhiteSox (https://twitter.com/hashtag/WhiteSox?src=hash) had Carlos Rodon travel ahead to Houston early since he's starting tomorrow against the Astros.

Carroll has pitched OK as a long man in the pen. I would guess that the likeliest scenarios are Noesi being DFA'd or Danks going to the DL with an inflated ERA.

If Beck pitches well today, I suspect that he joins the rotation. A rotation of Sale, Samardzija, Quintana, Rodon and Beck might be OK. If the Sox use one or two of Carroll/Danks/Noesi as long men who occasionally make a spot start, that isn't too bad. I wouldn't to see any of those guys start more than that, though.

Based on the way Ventura is using Duke in the first game, clearly we can only assume that he's the one being moved to make room for Beck.

DFA or trade Duke? Im confused

OK, that probably means that Noesi is the long man in the pen and Danks is still in the Sox rotation -- at least until Beck or some other Sox pitching prospect passes Danks on the depth chart. Here's hoping that Beck has a good debut today in Game 2.

Don't get this one. Radinsky was #31 with the Sox. Gossage wore #54.

Lip,

I believe The Rad Mans first start with the Sox he wore 56, it was in 90.

I was curious so I checked the media guide, they have the Sox all time numerical roster in it over a number of pages. They don't have Scott as wearing #56 in it.

Bob Cain
Bill Evans
Clyde Shoun
Dave Nicholas
Ed Correa
Ravelo Manzarillo
Wayne Edwards
Bryan Ward
Mark Buehrle

I think you may be thinking of Edwards who was on the team at the same time and was also left handed. He came up in 89 by the way, Scott did come up in 90.

Chris Beck back to Charlotte. So, that means Daniel Webb remains with the team as Scott Carroll was already sent down.

Beck showed some promise. I like his stuff. His command isn't quite good enough to pitch in the big leagues yet. At least he gave the team some innings.

But the question is... Doesn't he give us a better chance to win than Noesi/Danks? I think his stuff is premier compared to those 2 guys, and what better way to learn than at the major league level. That is unless his mind can't cope with a little bit of struggling.

I agree. Beck gives the Sox a better chance to win than Noesi or Danks. Later in the season, the same might be true for Frank Montas.

I don't think that Noesi will start any more games for the Sox other than the occasional spot start. He could get DFA'd pretty soon.

Danks is also on his way out. It's only a question of when. He just hasn't recovered from the shoulder injury. It's too bad but, as Walter Cronkite used to say, that's the way it is.

The Sox have a track record of rushing prospects to the majors before they're ready and want them to do the same with Beck and Montas in a desperate attempt to salvage this season?

Haven't we had enough of the "go for broke" approach of building a winning franchise?

What prospects did we rush that we hurt? Sale? Beckham? Brian Anderson? The people that you rush and they fail and never recover weren't really that good anyway.

I think if you've got a player that is going to be a good or great MLB player, rushing them won't hurt them.

If rushing up doesn't hurt a player, why don't most organizations rush their players up the second they are better than whoever they have in the majors?
You risk developing bad habits when rushed. You miss the opportunity to develop other skills, or the sake of being better with the current skills than some stiff on the major league team.
