In 1967, the Orioles and Tigers had a game postponed because of riots in Detroit. The next two games were shifted to Baltimore.

Then if they can't play tomorrow I assume the only real option may be have the Sox come back at some point to play a game and have Baltimore play the other two games when they are in Chicago July 3-5.

That would make it a five game series, which they used to do back in the 1950's.

South Bend is just outside the range of WPWR-50 unless you have a super duper rooftop antenna.. 70 miles is around the absolute limit for reception.

The Sox and the Orioles should have flown to Chicago either yesterday or today and played two games (today and tomorrow) or a doubleheader tomorrow at U.S. Cellular. That would have made a lot more sense than playing before an empty park in Baltimore tomorrow. But then again, Orioles ownership is known for their legendary stubbornness and idiosyncratic behavior, right?

Exactly, and the teams could have shared the gate at US Cellular field as opposed to Baltimore getting absolutely ZERO tomorrow!

A flight to Chicago isn't free, nor is the cost of running a stadium (even for not very many people). Clearly Baltimore tried to wait as long as they could to play these games normally, and by that point it was too late to consider Chicago (which I doubt ever would have been an option, Baltimore wouldn't want to fly to Chicago for a day or two before flying back to Baltimore or Tampa)

Actually Darren if paid admissions is the standard then yes Wednesday will set the record and it can never be broken, only tied. Since they aren't allowing any fans into the game that means paid attendance is zero right?

I'm sure they'll be some employees and such watching the game but as far as paid admissions, tomorrow sets the record.

....or why not play a DH tomorrow in Baltimore instead of on May 28? The teams are right there in Baltimore and then would only have to make up one game later. Both teams are well rested right now and both have an off day on Monday. That would save the Sox the insanity of having to fly in to Baltimore to play 2 games in 1 day and then fly back out in the middle of a long stretch of games.

The game on 5/28 will be a straight DH and not a day-night DH. So, there will only be one set of tickets sold on that day either way.

It sounds like MLB never even asked the Nationals about them hosting any games this series, either.

Yeah but it's one set of tickets to a DH not a single afternoon makeup game. That way they can probably fill the stadium for at least the second game. Also, why risk things tomorrow by pushing later in the day. The later things go the more of a target the stadium becomes if things heat up again. Leave well enough alone. It's going to suck but those guys get paid millions I think they can handle it.

If time of day was an issue, they'd start today's game at 11:00am instead of waiting all the way until 2:05.

How much the players get paid has nothing to do with it. Having to fly in the Sox to a city to play 2 games in 1 day and then fly them back out puts them at a significant competitive disadvantage to their opponents.
