LMAO!

What has it been--three games--since Manuel told everyone Lief would play everyday?

I didn't think such a thing was possible, but I now honestly believe Jerry Manuel has REGRESSED as a major league manager. He made mistakes early in his career (1997-98) due to his inexperience, but he managed well with the talent he had the next two seasons, IMO. I honestly thought he was on his way to becoming one of the best managers in MLB.

Ever since then, he's been a disaster. Yes, Lenny probably has a role to play in Manuel's goofy decisions. However, the goofy quotes, like the one about Liefer playing everyday, can't be attributed to anybody but Manuel himself.

The 2002 team quit on him. Can there be any doubt the reasons why?

Did he actually say he'd play everyday? I know he said he was going to try and work him in.

LOL. Maybe he's too busy pushing for a strike to worry about actually playing.

Here's what Manuel said:

So it became very tough to get him those at-bats. But on this trip (to Texas and Oakland) we're going to try to get him in as much as possible to see if we can get him going."

The only question is at who's expense? Liefer can play left or right field, first base, and obviously serve as the designated hitter, but all those positions are occupied by veterans who were not part of last month's purge.

"That could mean less at-bats for Frank, that could mean less at-bats for Carlos Lee," Manuel said. "That could also mean a day off here and there for Konerko and also for Magglio."

Didn't mention everyday. Still, he needs to stick with a decision.

I stick with my decisions... I just tinker with them, even though it usually doesn't work.

Manuel finds Liefer starts by giving Konerko, Maggs, and Carlos days off. Manuel doesn't like to let Liefer give Thomas a day off though. Considering that Thomas is the worst of Konerko, Maggs, and Carlos, this pisses me off.

Manuel is a weak, weak man. Argue a call? No, he'd rather trot out to the ump and point at the area of the play.

I'm sick of seeing Harris benched against lefties. He's improving as a player, let him improve against lefties. Harris will never be able to hit left-handers if he doesn't get at bats on them. If Randy Johnson is starting that game, okay, sit Harris. Late inning rally vs. a lefty specialist, let Graffy pinch hit. Outside of those situations, Harris must bat.

"Nah, I think I'll let my boy Roycie bat instead."
