I'm curious to know: at his prime, with which of the Sox closers from the last 10-12 years did you feel most comfortable in slamming the door shut to save a game?

And if you're feeling especially verbose, rank 'em from best to worst.

Foulke Pre-2002

Whither Matt Karchner  ? Seriously, it's probably a tie between Foulke and Hernandez right now. Roberto had 3 tremendous year with the Sox, Foulke has had 3. I guess I'll take Foulke.

I'd take Thigpen in '90 over any of 'em. But none of these guys were able to keep it together for many consecutive years.

Of course it was "Pigpen". That guy was the bomb when he was here.

I liked thigpen...but it seemed like he was ALWAYS USED and he would load the bases w/ nobody out and stike out the side...drove me nuts

Thiggy was awsome. I remember many times when he came out, Hawk would always say "sit down and buckle up". He always scared you to death, but the guy knew how to pitch for a couple of years.

That's what made him so cool. He used to just toy with the other team, then mow em down like blades of grass.

Funny part is, Thigpen was not the closer he he was in after the old park was gone. I still refer to warning track fly outs from foulke as "Bobby Thigpen outs". I'm sure Bobby loved that park for different reasons then we did.

I chose Hernandez, I can't really remember Thigpen since I was only 2 years old.
