Well, ESPN.com is saying that the date is a possibility, but that its not carved in stone.

Take this for what it's worth, I suppose.

As usual the date is pure speculation. How many imminent strike dates are we at now? I count at least five.

Can we change the title of this thread for us time-challenged folk? I don't wanna know if the sky ain't fallin' -- I wanna know if the sky BE fallin'.

From the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A14822-2002Aug13.html):
Major league baseball players plan to strike Aug. 30 if they fail to reach a new labor agreement with owners, according to knowledgeable sources.
Although the date is subject to change, players left a union executive board meeting in Chicago on Monday with the understanding that, if a strike date is to be announced, that day will be Aug. 30.

I agree Hal. They have had at least that many. It is starting to get ridiculous. If you are going to set a strike date, set it. Every time a new date is speculated about, it is just pissing me off more and more, along with many other fans I am sure.

Add the fact that negotiations are making little progress to to the speculation. (http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2002/0814/1418130.html)

Hopefully they won't strike on 9/11. Baseball is going to loose fans if they strike and they'll lose even more if they are on strike on 9/11.

Maybe baseball fans would be better off watching the Little League World Series. At least those little All-Stars won't be worried about a labor dispute — for now. MLB Strike Will Strike Out With Fans (http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/baseball_strike020815.html?partner=earthlink)
