I have missed you in my diet, sir. Please provide the smell and sizzle we need at 2nd base. 2nd base is important because all guys want to get there (or slide head first into it), but I believe you will guard 2nd base well. Bring your almost golden glove. Stay focused and don't ever lay down a bunt.

The debut of Bacon and its TWTW.

Are we still calling him that :?:

Anyway I hope he takes playing time from Gillaspie, not Semien.

God, I love that thing. Let's hope we get to use it a lot this season.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if that nickname went away. The Ozzie era is over and Beckham has been a disappointment since he came up 5 years ago.

Nicknames are cute when someone is good at something.

I'm watching the Rays game and the scroll at the bottom said the White Sox today activated David Beckham.

Gillaspie is hitting .302 with 7 doubles, 12 RBI, and an OBP of .347. Please tell me why he deserves a cut in playing time?

Maybe Gordon should try swinging the bat with his feet.

Say it ain't so GoBe. C'mon be a one hit wonder. Sir you did do a nice job of raising Max's pitch count by not being able to put a ball in play.

That was a pretty smart way to try to get on base. You hit a grounder and hope they either boot it or throw it away. Good effort. It just didn't work this time. Maybe you will make a web gem or something comparable sir.

Because a hot 2 and a half weeks does not make a bad player into a good one. Semien is more skilled and has greater potential than Gillaspie and thus needs to play.

Well, I agree Semien should be playing everyday to continue his development but I'd be wary of throwing around too much praise on him. Kid's OBP is still under .300.

Gillaspie's also a bit of a unknown as well, former 1st round pick still only 570ish PA into his MLB career. Not saying he will turn it around, but it's not unheard of either. Carlos Gomez needed 6 seasons and nearly 2,000 plate appearances before he figured out what the **** he was doing.

Well I'm basing my opinion on the fact that Conor was completely pedestrian in 5 minor league seasons and doesn't have nearly enough power to make up for the fact that he hits lefties worse than Adam Dunn. Semien dominated AA and has shown a proclivity for taking pitches and drawing walks, although that hasn't translated to the bigs yet.

One guy's 26 and has not proven at any level to be better than average at anything. The other's 23 with great minor league success and a balanced skillset that's very attractive. Conor's realistic ceiling is probably a utility player/pinch-hitter on a good team. Semien's is something closer to Ray Durham. Both may flame out, but it's easy to see which one the Sox should bet on.

Gomez is a very rare case -- 99% of the time players over 25 with 1000+ ABs don't improve the way he has the last two years.

A platoon of Gillaspie and Semian makes sense- Conor's defense is pretty shakey, and once Davidson is up for good, his role will be as a LH hitting 3rd base/1st base off the bench and that will probably be his role next year- I like him as a corner utility guy- he's exposed (on defense) when he plays every day.

GoBe, CoGi, and MaSe
Our platoon of monsters, watch out mlb
GoBe had some stage fright today and some rust issues, but he will work it out.
I mean it was opening day.

Negative. The guy with the most upside should play most. Semien.

Platoon Connor and Gordon.

Rotate the three, but make sure Semien is out there 4 to 5 games per week either at 2B or 3B.

We got a couple of extra IFs this season. That is a change for the better. For now, have no problem platooning this guys and see who performs the best. Competition for playing time is good.
