Just popped up on the team's Facebook wall:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, March 26, 2014

GLENDALE, Ariz. The Chicago White Sox have claimed right-handed relief pitcher Javy Guerra off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Guerra, 28, spent most of the 2013 season with Class AAA Albuquerque, going 0-4 with a 3.66 ERA (16 ER/39.1 IP), 12 saves and 36 strikeouts in 27 games (four starts). He also made nine appearances with the Dodgers, recording a 6.75 ERA (8 ER/10.2 IP) with 12 strikeouts.

Guerra, 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, has gone 4-5 with a 2.90 ERA (33 ER/102.1 IP), 87 strikeouts and 29 saves over parts of three major-league seasons with the Dodgers (2011-13). His best season came as a rookie in 2011 when he posted a 2.31 ERA (12 ER/46.2 IP), with a team-high 21 saves and 38 strikeouts in 47 appearances. Guerra followed with a 2.60 ERA (13 ER/45.0 IP) and eight saves in 2012.

A native of Denton, Texas, Guerra also has gone 27-30 with a 4.26 ERA (226 ER/477.1 IP) and 464 strikeouts in 219 games (65 starts) over 10 seasons in the minor leagues, all with the Dodgers. He originally was selected by the Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2004 draft.

The White Sox 40-man roster is at 40.

Javy Guerra pickup changes Sox bullpen situation. Ventura said they will iron it out today. Has idea who closer is but won't announce yet.

ESPN-affiliated blog The Catbird Seat suggests that the acquisition of Guerra means Webb will be starting the season in Charlotte

I also saw that Leury Garcia and Semien will share time at 2B as Beckham is going on th DL. I think we can infer (and hope) that Keppinger is on the DL. Looks like the Bench is Viciedo or De Aza, PK (or Dunn), Nieto and L Garcia

I'd rather keep both and let Veal suck in Charlotte.

Agree Veal is turrible, but I can't blame them for taking a 2nd lefty North.

While I think Webb is ready for the majors, there is nothing wrong with getting him extra work in Charlotte. He has only had 38 innings above AA, so getting him some more time in the minors is not a bad thing. I know anything about Guerra, but from what I read, he should be a good middle reliver and maybe close.

I kind've feel bad for Webb. He started the spring as a closer candidate and pretty much a lock for the bullpen and now might be on the outside looking in. Not to mention that he lost his mother unexpectedly which caused him to miss a week of Cactus League games. Guerra seems more like a project and they will have to evaluate him on the fly if he makes the team. It's unfortunate this deal didn't happen earlier in Spring Training where Cooper would have been able to work longer with him. I think the Sox probably would rather have Guerra in Charlotte but the whole "out of options" thing is coming into play.

If Guerra is broken [all together now], "Coop'll ..." Sorry couldn't stop myself.
