George Castle and I put together a humerous look back for the Chicago Baseball Museum at nicknames through the years for the Sox and Cubs.

Here's the link to the story:

Amusing indeed. Mike Lavalliere was a Spanky too. Might be better than anyone on the current roster, age notwithstanding. My favorite is "Kiki" Cuyler, a stuttering Cubs outfielder who must have pronounced his last name "CuyCuyCuyler." That was the 1930's. See what fun you miss in these politically correct days?

Lip, how could you leave out Little Nell, Nellie or the Mighty Mite for Jacob Nelson Fox? You broke my heart.

Maybe I've been gone too long, but I have never heard Paulie called "King". It was always "Captain" or "Walnuts".

"Kong" I've heard, "King" I have not.

I'll try to catch up with him as soon as possible. lol...for the record, my name was meant to be a Barry Jones reference.

I wonder what variety of artillery Hawk will tag Abreu with?

Lip, you missed "Moon Man" Jay Johnstone.

King started a year or two ago with Beckham calling him that, ie he's the "king of the clubhouse". I've definitely seen it in print and heard Beckham call him that more than once.

He lives inside the bullpen.

Every time I hear that Cheap Trick song, I think of that.
