Just saw Jesse Crain shaking hands with teammates, on the phone. He's been traded per @Buster_ESPN (https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN). #whitesox (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23whitesox&src=hash)

Hopefully, we got more than just salary dump in return, but I'm honestly not expecting much.

Smart move by Tampa. Hopefully it's a good contingency deal, where we get something of value if he produces.

Looks like it's conditional.

White Sox will get "future considerations" from Rays for Jesse Crain. Medicals looked good. Rays believe he can pitch soon

I think it will be a contingent trade and, I agree, that is a good thing. If Crain does well or Tampa in August and September -- and I think that he will -- the Sox should get a decent prospect or prospects from the Rays.

With him on the DL it had to be conditional.....Good luck Jesse! Hope Tampa wins it all this year!

I'm sure that if he is healthy for X number of days the Sox will choose from a better list of prospects, and if he is not then a list of lesser prospects.

I hear that Longoria guy the Rays have is a real pain in the rear. We'll take him off their hands and deal with him.

Before Jesse Crain was dealt, the White Sox had considered packaging him with Jake Peavy or other players. GM Rick Hahn being very creative.

Of all the White Sox who could be traded, Jesse Crain was the one they most wanted to deal. All others under control for next year.

Andrew Friedman one of the games best GM's pulls an out of the box deal acquiring Jesse Crain for future considerations despite his shoulder

I would have loved this move. Hopefully he comes back soon and we can get something for him.

The Rays have had a nice run the last month or so and it's been a pleasure to watch them just about every day. Crain for Maddon works for me.

Hope he's lights out so we can get a nice haul.

I doubt that it is contingent on his production, only his ability to be healthy.

Sounds like a decent deal for Tampa. Jesse did a great job for us.

Would have been nice, but Passan was also saying just a few hours ago that the Sox and Rays weren't close to having a deal. FWIW.

If Crain weren't traded while on the DL, he would have be moved in a waiver deal. The Rays obviously didn't want to take a chance of being blocked.

Crain probably doesn't have many innings left in him this season, but the Sox no longer have to pay him. I don't expect any talent in return, but I hope I'm wrong.

Am I correct in assuming Tampa holds the power in this trade with it being appearance based since if they have clinched/are eliminated/Crain ends up sucking they can bench him and hold onto their better PTBNLs.

Sounds like a decent deal for Tampa. Jesse did a great job for us.

It is a good trade for Tampa Bay. If Jesse is healthy, he'll produce.

If Jesse isn't healthy, Tampa Bay basically gives up nothing.

Hopefully, Jesse gets the job done for the Rays, and the Sox can get a little something in the deal -- even if it's just an organizational player.

You don't ever expect a big return for relief pitchers with expiring contracts.
