Maybe we can get a contender to give us a prospect to send Thornton to their closest rival.

Who did the Sox trade to get Garza? *plenty of scouts at the game*

It seems among the position players, only Phegley and Beckham actually give a damn. Maybe Gillaspie as well, but he appears not to be adjusting to pitchers' adjustments to him.

Can't believe I watched this crapfest. I need an extended break from this team.

Left in the eighth. Don't think I can subject taking friends and family to see this horrible show anymore.

That awkward moment when a loss to the Cubs in which Matt Thornton pitched like hot garbage to crack the game wide open doesn't stir up any semblance of desire in the fanbase to even give a ****.

What's Phegley look like to you? Backup C/DH type? Nice to see Cooper instructing him and Santiago after letting Soriano waltz to 3rd base. That's when a great organization teaches this stuff. In the dugout at the major league level after you've been pantsed.

Thornton has been on an expert slope with one ski ever since he blew the All-Star Game a couple years ago. And yet, he still has enough to fix and some team may take a chance on him. Not for immediate help, of course. That ship has sailed.

1) This has to be another low in our 2013 season. We can't beat the Cubs at least once this year. Of course every game and every series is the same. This White Sox team CAN'T HIT. I have no doubt in my mind if Phegley keeps hitting, he'll be batting either 4th or 5th in our lineup by the end of the year.
2) The Cubs manager is a low life *******. He brought in a left handed pitcher to face Dunn in the ninth inning when his team was up by 6 runs and there was already one out in the inning. He obviously was rubbing it in the White Sox face by doing something like that. After he gets fired by the Cubs somewhere down the line, I'll be glad to see him in the unemployment line.

I thought it was odd as well when they brought in Russell, but the Cubs are in such a "selling" mode they may be throwing him out there for one of the 300 scouts who were evidently at the game tonight. Russell is poison for left handed hitters, but righties hit something like .350 against him.

It was strange - but who knows.

This is about the lowest I've ever felt as a White Sox fan. I won't be watching anymore games this season. These bums aren't worth my time. Time to catch up on my reading.

Could it be he would rather not have had Blake Parker, a recent recall who is rumored to be a possible closer, get taken deep by the biggest threat to do so? I really don't think it's a big deal at all. He's also likely on the market - Russell that is.

What more can be said about our bad team. It's just a dumpster fire right now. We might lose 100 games. Phegley is at least a bundle of energy so far. On a different and somewhat odd note, what was the deal with Garza strutting on to the field during the first inning while the game was in progress thus holding up the game. At the risk of sounding like Hawk, "in all my years watching this game, I have never seen that before." When he did finally get out there in the bottom of the inning, he took something like 3 min to throw his first pitch to De Aza. Very odd behavior from their ace.

Garza is also a big tool as he delayed the game and strolled in from the bullpen during the top of the first inning as the game was going on. After the game, he said it was the Sox' fault as they only gave him 15 minutes to warm up and rushed him to start a make up game.

That's a load of ****. He knew when first pitch was, he had the same amount of time as everybody else to get ready. He got there late, and didn't want to admit it. .

There was a good comment in the game thread about Ventura and the current state of things. I have been pretty pro Ventura, but I have now come to the conclusion that we need a complete regime change after this year. There are so many fundamental mistakes going on right now I just don't have any faith in these coaches going forward. I know there is little talent, but still.

Thornton is worse than worthless.

We were showcasing him tonight.
We can't even dress these stiffs up to make them look good for 1 night so we can trade them.

All of this crap snowballs. Basically everyone is playing worse as the losing grates on you and you lose heart. And we have a manager who hadn't been on a bench in 10 years, and who hasn't experienced a slump and what it takes to pull out of it.

He was likely doing what smart teams do (and the Sox don't)...putting his pitcher in a good position to showcase him. Good move.

Things just keep going lower and lower. It's impossible to believe considering what we've seen thus far, but somehow they manage to find new ways each week to make a fan feel horrible about this team.

I don't care about getting swept by the Cubs because it's the Cubs and the "rivalry" that supposed to exist. Throwing out all the media fluff and the fact that they play in the same city, the Cubs are bad baseball team in full rebuild mode and you should be able to beat them at least once.

This organization needs a massive house cleaning from top to bottom. Players, coaches, announcers, everything. It's just so tedious to watch.

Phegley reminds me of TCQ, both in build and a little bit in his stance. A trade has to be coming at some point, just don't expect much of a return.

It would be very safe to say that. Losing starts at the top of this organization and goes all the way down.

Kenny Kenny what have you done
Cubs beating us a ton
Fans are packing up on the run
Except for nacho helmets no more fun
Like eating a vienna with no bun
No more relaxing day in the sun
Pitchers slowing on the speed gun
Bad contracts, hitting is none
Trading deadline, but left with Dunn.

Excellent thread title. Hopefully they don't start piping the Beethoven in at the stadium! Luckily both teams suck, and this cub sweep will be long forgotten by tomorrow.

It absolutely starts at the top with a old geezeer that is JR.

Jerry, you were the best owner in Chicago history, you were a "sunshine boy" but time has passed you by.

Time to go out to pasture, you don't have the same passion and fire that a young Jerry had. You have your beloved Championship, now please fade away, you have rusted.

The Rangers had 2 scouts at Mondays game. Cleveland, Priates, Blue Jay and the Padres had 1 each.

Hopefully the scouts weren't watching too closely last night, we need some young talent on this team pronto.

Phegley is like a breath of fresh air, in a clubhouse full of guys going through the motions.

This post says a mouthful in one sentence, doesn't it?

There are 76 games left in this sorry season. Not a single one will matter to the White Sox.

At least Rios hit the ball hard a couple of times.

This sucks and this organization sucks... I'm not very far from turning off the ESPN Score Updates on my phone. Sometimes it's the only reason I remember that they're playing.

Thornton has been done for awhile....please trade him to the Tigers!
Gordo and Phegley are hitting the ball anyway.

I would put everybody but Sale,Gordo,Phegley,Quintana,Santiago and Reed on the block!

Garza is a POS. Hope the Cubs sign him for 5 yr/90 million...and he sucks.

Only one- September 29- last game of Paulie's career (I would guess)- I'll be there out of respect.
