Sale has more than earned that honor, but I would be interested to know if there's ever been another SP to make an All Star team with a losing record.

Feels like that would be a pretty short list.

It's definitely happened, but it probably is a short list. With the rule that one person has to make it, and the fact that there has been some really ****ty teams (our current team included), it's almost unavoidable some years. I remember Pete Harnisch (sp?) making it one year for Houston with a losing record. I'm sure there are others, but I can't remember them offhand. Pittsburgh has sent a single player many years between 1993 and 2012. I have to think there is a losing record pitcher in there somewhere.

I still don't understand why they allow someone from each team. This isn't Little League, not everyone has to be represented. If your team doesn't have an All-Star caliber player they shouldn't just pick one. Not saying either of the Sox players aren't worthy, but I'm sure there will be some players that will.

Fans shouldn't get to elect the starters, but each team's fan base should get to vote for one rep from their team. I realize that this means meatball Sox fans probably would have voted in Konerko this year.

Crain: "Iím speechless on that," he said. "I play the game because I love it and I try to take it day by day, and pitch by pitch and just go out there and do my job. For everyone to vote that way, they obviously respect what I do out there and that means a lot."

Sale: "Iíve always enjoyed his competition and playing against that team. Iím very thankful for him doing that for me."
