Great offensive night, terrible defensive night for the rook.

What in the world was with Hawk and Stone? They did not acknowledge each other once during the game. Apparently their "working it out" over the offseason has worn off.

This is the worst Sox team I've ever followed. The games are long and awful. They can't hit. Can't throw strikes. I love baseball but I have no desire to go watch this team play right now. None.

I keep waking up hopeful that there will be some trade action coming soon but nothing yet.

My only wish for the rest of this season is that they play spoiler for playoff teams down the stretch.

About what I expected from Phegley. Not much of a chance for this game.

I actually found this to be one of the most interesting game of the season so far:

- Beckham's first game at SS in the big leagues.
- Josh Phegley's debut with a seeing-eye single to RF and nice Sac Fly later
- Simon Castro's(didn't know it was pronounced "Simone") debut (looks like a young Jose Contreras)
- Blake Tekotte's debut in CF and flashing some leather early.
- Nice comeback attempt in the 9th.

I didn't notice any tension between the announcers tonight.

What's his story? Prospect, or just a Danks II sort of player?

To bad they had to have their batting practice pitcher out there tonight. Axelrod is horrible;and for the Hawk to keep saying how great he has been is a joke. Just send him down or trade him for a couple of bats.

I've lost TWTW ("The Will to Watch") this team and this entire organization.

Crappy major league roster, crappy minor league system, crappy announcers, crappy customer service/stadium operations/marketing.

Just a big pile of crap.

Attended a game at Miller Park tonight with a group of Sox fans (annual tailgate event started when Sox would play Brewers every summer at old County Stadium)- everyone in the group felt the same way- all of us diehards going back to the 70's (me) and some of the group back to the 50's (still pissed Billy Pierce never started a game in the 1959 Worls Series).

And again- "jolted" by such a higher quality customer service and stadium operations (the concession stands were still open in the 8th inning!, the scoreboard was fully functional and you could easily see all the info you're looking for in one place!).

Time to step away from this team for a while- maybe a long while.

All of those things were interesting and Phegley's debut is largely why I tuned in but the outcome was all too familiar. It was interesting when Beckham moved to short and Stone said it was a sign for the future. Perhaps Alexei will be given more days off in the second half if he isn't traded first.

He's a 26-year-old failed prospect who was batting .249 in AAA.

Another organizational placeholder.

I'm very close to being with you. I won't be going to the park anytime soon, that's for sure. The only real reason I'm watching them on TV is because they're laughably bad. The park is a grim place to be these days. Those is charge just don't have any real interest in operating it properly.

A long night made even longer by having to listen to the Rays announcers with endless stats on the Sox and why they are as bad as they are.

I just watched the brief post game Interview with Simon Castro. Is he really 25 years old? I'd guess early to mid 3o's.

I think you'll see a lot more of the prospects out there as hopefully we will start making some trades.

Another organizational placeholder.

One rookie of the year candidate is Josť Iglesias of the Red Sox. He was their AAA shortstop who in 3 seasons in AAA averaged .244. He was called up to play 3rd base when Middlebrooks got hurt. After 43 games ( decent sampling) he is hitting .410. Now he probably won't hit .310 by season end but sometimes a player will do better at the MLB level. Ironically, Drew then gets hurt so they move Iglesias to SS and call up their AAA 1st baseman who was hitting .267. They throw him on 3rd and in 6 games he is hitting .316. That is why I posted the other day when someone knocked Theo that the Red Sox always seem to get good production on a short term basis from the AAA team.

Tekotte is basically a white Jerry Owens. A two tool player. He can catch it well and he can flat out run. However, he can't hit worth a cent. Probably maxes out as a nice pinch runner or late inning defensive sub.

I am always amazed when Axelrod does not get hammered.
He has no stuff,really. Nothing.

I am watching mainly to see how the young lefties in the rotation,(Quintana,Santiago,Sale,Danks) fare. It is a decent core that should keep the Sox respectable the next 1.5 years, while they try to re-build the roster.
