Blue Jays will probably be coming back in August---or maybe they cancel it since both teams are out of it.

Damn, this is serious. Starting to worry a bit about what's coming.

They only postponed it because Dunn's homers would have created a tornado.

Typical Sox, calling a game 4 hours early because of competition from another Chicago team in the playoffs....

Well that and the line of hail, dangerous winds and sideways rain coming at them, but stilll... The title says it all. We all know the REAL reason they called the game...

The Sox DID call off a game on a rainless night during the NBA finals back in the heyday of the Bulls. They had a word-perfect sign posted on the windows by gate 4; at least with social media now they saved about 30 people a trip to the park tonight.

Reminds me of another game cancelled in advance from the late 90s. Reinsdorf's Bulls had a crucial playoff game that night. And the weather was miserable, cold with heavy rain predicted. The Sox called the game hours before the first pitch.

I understand we are under a severe weather watch, so cancelling the game makes perfect sense from a safety standpoint. And, of course, everyone can kick back and watch the Hawks. :-)

Yeah that was the reason for my post. It was called due to "cold" and ended up being in the low 50's IIRC. People were laughing at them big time...

I love the Word Perfect reference.

Look at the good side...they couldn't throw away another game tonight!

They are going to have a dung load of double headers later in the year to make up...not that it will matter.

Guess the garbage weather for Chicago is extending longer than folks thought.

Yep and I had tickets to that game and there were quite a few of us who couldn't figure out why it was cancelled. It was a bit chilly but the sun was still out, and I've been to games that were played in much colder temperatures. Not to mention that the Brewers somehow managed to get their game in at County Stadium that same night, but I digress...

It was my understanding that the umpires, not the home team, makes the pregame decision whether to postpone a game on team's last trip into a city, which s pretty much any team that isn't in your division. Maybe they changed the rule and I missed it.

MLB can say whatever they want but I would assume whatever is best for business is what happens.
