Could never get into boxing.... Seems like a cool event and historic though.

There's an Adam Dunn joke in here somewhere....

you think anyone goes, and if so, will it outsell the normal Sox game?

I'm going. I've been to several 8 count productions Boxing events at the UIC Pavilion. They're a good time. These aren't amateur fighters, they're pros so the skill set is pretty great.

Also, here is the seating chart for those interested.

Agreed. Already bought tickets actually. Fonfara and Szpilka have drawn some impressive and rowdy crowds at the UIC Pavilion due the large Polish population in Chicago.

The Artur Szpilka vs. Mike Mollo fight in January was probably the most exciting live event I've attended all year (eager to see the rematch).

But it's going to be damn cool to be at the Cell to watch this. This might be a future venue for boxing if it draws well (as has already happened with the UIC Pavilion).

Will A.J. Pierzynski and Michael Barret be on the undercard?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I knew Joe Louis won the Heavyweight crown at Comiskey Park, but didn't know about Liston.

Mentioned this before but I was a vendor in 1962 and worked the Patterson-Liston fight in September. Some very irate customers that night as the fight was over before the first round ended.

In a wilder era, wrestling was once a South Side tradition at the old place.

I think i saw Dick the Bruiser beat and unmask Doctor X at old Comiskey Park.

This is one of my favorite posts.

Sugar Ray Robinson and Jake LaMotta also had one of their fights in old Comiskey.

Sounds cool. I don't follow boxing at all but if I had time/money to spare I'd consider going to this this summer.

Perfect. Easy viewing from the box seats, no field seats, nothing between the foul lines to mess up Sodfather's manicured field. There can't be more than a couple thousand fans expected, I guess.

They said it was going to be scaled for 12,000, but, looking at ticketmaster earlier today, 1/2-3/4 of the tickets were still available.

Some great fights so far. Two knockouts and a special guest appearance by Ron Kittle in Teddy Atlas' fight plan.

Great night of fights and a great crowd. A lot more people than I thought, a lot of the Polish community came out to support their great fighters.

I hope they do this every year.

The broadcast highlighted the Cell and there were many references to Comiskey Park also. Ozzie even managed to weasel his way into the broadcast booth.

My friend went. Said there was about 10,000 people there. Sat right behind Ozzie and got pics of his kids and Ozzie.

Wow, 10,000 is impressive if accurate. I would think that would be enough to get a reprise next year.

I will say the marketing worked on me. I NEVER watch boxing an watched the rest of the card as soon as the Sox game ended.
