Not a good way to start a road trip.

Two more errors...
13 more strikeouts...

On a night when they actually get 10 hits in a game and score six runs, you figure maybe....but nope.

Why does Ventura leave an ineffective righty reliever in too long night after night. The game is over before Jones leaves. We have a pen - it isn't overtaxed. Use it!

Jones and Veal have clearly regressed (like the defense) and you'd have to think Robin is still learning how to manage a pitching staff. (Although you'd think Cooper would be right there to help him along -- unless of course it's really Cooper making the calls.)

The 2 players that have disappointed me the most are DeAza and Nate Jones. DeAza can't seem to do anything, offensively and defensively. I'm still hoping for a split on this roadtrip.

Jones was clearly bad, but Giminez needs to learn how to get in front of pitches in the dirt instead of trying to backhand balls with runners on third base. That's a minor issue though. The problems run deep.

Expected result via an unexpected route.

Yeah, pass me the Motrin.
Please give me a young product soon that is easier to watch, even if the W/L isn't great at first.

Just so tired of status quo.

Sox have now lost 13 of 19 and with a ton of road games coming up, well...things don't look good.

Nothing to see here.

More really bad defense, more lack of timely hitting when it could have made a difference. Just how many men were left on base in the first 5 innings?

Please, make it stop!

Walks and errors, knees and toes (knees and toes).

They do run deep, and I'm again going to point out that Donnie Veal is a waste of a roster spot if he cannot retire left-handed hitters.

Veal is a small part of a larger problem, but he's not going to be around much longer if he keeps pitching like this.

If this team's not 10 games under .500 when they get home from this road trip it'll be a Grade B miracle....

What just struck me, and is very depressing, is that right now it feels this team is not gonna be any closer than 3 games out the rest of the year. Yeesh.

This is one thing that's always bothered me. Veal can't find his release point against LH's, so they keep throwing him out there against LH's. What sense does that make? He has good enough stuff to get RH's out too. Throw him out there against some RH's and let him find his release point. If he doesn't, bye.

Agreed on De Aza. He has 31Ks in April which is a pace for 180Ks if things don't change soon. This is Adam Dunn territory minus the 40HRs. He is also hitting only .229 with a .272 OBP. This is not acceptable for a leadoff hitter. Also, as you pointed out, his defense has been very poor this year. However, Robin has done him no favors playing him in LF lately where he has come out and said he is not nearly as comfortable there.

I thought he said last year he's more comfortable in LF than CF

That's what I thought he said also.
When Viciedo was hurt last year they moved him to LF and Wise was in CF just like this year.

Below is an article from March of 2012. I was wrong, apparently, it was RF where Alejandro said he felt uncomfortable. Not sure where he stands on playing LF vs. CF but regardless, he has looked much worse out there to me and it isn't just because of what happened last night. He took some interesting routes at The Cell during the homestand.
