Dan Hayes
Deunte Heath has struck out six in three innings at Triple-A Charlotte. Will wear No. 54

Makes sense considering how the pen has been used so far.

Reading between the lines this move tells me they don't trust the starting pitching.

I don't think that is it. I think Noneck was correct. The bullpen has been used a lot (especially Nate Jones and Matt Lindstrom) and the Sox are on a 10 game trip with no days off. They probably don't want to blow out the bullpen in April. I'm just surprised they called up Heath instead of Omogrosso who had a great Spring.

Plus Omogrosso pitched great last year in limited time. While I figured they would recall a pitcher, I though it would be Omogrosso, Marinez or even Stewart before Heath.

The average AL bullpen has throw 29.2 innings to this point, the Sox BP has thrown 29.1.

Maybe if a team is dependent on pitching, average is not good enough.
