Despite getting hit today Robin said it's "highly unlikely" that Santiago will be sent down and figures to make the opening day roster.

Don't know how this impacts the staff in the sense if anybody else was penciled in ahead of him.

Said he'll be 'stretched out' (probably as insurance for Danks) but he can handle a number of different roles.

Probably not a bad decision as he is so versatile.

With that being said what do you guys see Santiago's ceiling being? 4th or 5th starter or long-relief spot start guy? He is only 25 and has showed some potential at times. Just like to see what WSI thinks he could be in 2-3 years.

He's probably a career long guy, but his ceiling would be somewhere around a 4. But that might be being a bit optimistic.

I'd be surprised if he didn't make the roster. He was on it last year and it's not like we added a bunch of arms over the winter.

Hector Santiago doesn't want to hear he has a spot on #WhiteSox (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23WhiteSox&src=hash) roster even with Robin Ventura's endorsement. http://cmcst.sn/aabzKX (http://t.co/58gyrpr7ZO)

While Hector Santiago is all but assured a roster spot, the lefty isn't taking anything for granted as the White Sox figure out if he'll pitch as a starter or reliever.

I don't see why he wouldn't. He did a fine job for us last year and pitchers like him are hard to come by. I think he'll be even better this season.

I am really starting to like Santiago. I hope he gets some movement on his fastball and plays a successful 5th starter/spot starter/long relief guy.

I didn't see any possible way that he wouldn't be one of the best 6 or 7 pitchers on the team outside of the 5 starters. I figured that the bullpen would be Thornton, Veal, and Santiago from the left side and Crain, Reed, Jones, and Lindstrom from the right side.

I will always root hard for Hector....his appearance in Sandy Hook last winter was great....really like his character. Good things can happen to good people sometimes...Go Hector!!

Like several of you have said already, I took him being on the opening day roster as a given.
