I'm hearing this from Twins fans. He wouldn't be bad there, again.

He can catch 110-130 games, Moving Mauer to 1b for good, while catching 30-40 games resting 36 year old AJ....

Thoughts?

Not sure why the Twins would do this when they are rebuilding and have a limited budget. Maybe they think they can flip Mauer. Isn't he making $20MM per year or something. He puts off great offensive numbers for a catcher (not too mention his defense) but as a 1B, I think he's overpaid relative to others.

The Twins fans who boo him because his trade brought Boof Bonser, Francisco Liriano (when he was good) and Joe Nathan? Those Twins fans? Or is it the Twins fans who are clueless about their team's situation of not spending money and having two bad contracts (Mauer and Morneau) hanging on their necks?

A friend of mine who is a journalist up there was asked by me this summer if the Twins were doing a Cub-style rebuilding or do they just suck. He told me they just suck. No rebuilding plans were implemented last year.

Not happening. AJ has no reason to go into an extremely crappy situation in Minnesota unless he chases the money that the Twins aren't going to spend.

When I saw the thread title, I thought he was going deer hunting or something.

They do that in Minnesota.

I'm surprised Toronto isn't throwing a bunch of money at him since they seem to be on a spending spree.

I think they're actually trying to trade Arencibia to make room for D'Arnaud.

Deer hunting and ice fishing....they do plenty of that in Illinois too. Cant think of a better thing to do on the weekends.

Hope AJ and Sox can find a way to keep him here
