After more than 500 losses, Teddy Roosevelt finally won the Presidents race at Nationals Park.

538, to be exact. Same as the number of votes in the electoral college (or members of Congress). In DC, I wonder if that's a coincidence, or not.

Saw the report about him on ABC World News last night. Way to go, Teddy.:gulp:

Electoral College
435 Representitives + 100 Senators = 535 members of Congress. The final three electors are from D.C.

I often wonder: has Thomas Jefferson ever won the race on the 4th of July?

I thought that Teddy would not win until the playoffs started. This is quite the buzz around here. I believe Teddy has a Facebook page. I know he has a fan club with t-shirts and pins. I wonder if this will start a winning streak for him.

On Sunday, Melton won his first '72 Sunday Throw Back Race at the Cell. Thought for sure he was going to step on a land mine before the finish line.

I guess I'm the only person who had never heard of this race or streak.

So people run in the costumes, but the results are pre-determined? That's not a race.

Or did the person(s) wearing the TR costume just happen to not win 538 times in a row? That would be impressive.

It's all choreographed. Teddy has "won" the race before but been "disqualified" for various reasons. The only reason he was able to "win" this last race was that a Phillie Phanatic look-alike tackled the other three presidents on the back stretch.

Wonder who made the decision to have TR become the Dick Dastardly of mascots?
