Who didn't see that coming? The Red Sox offseason will be interesting just like ours.

That ends a wild year in Boston.

Doing it now so they can go after Blue Jays manager John Farrell before the playoffs start, supposedly.

Not at all surprising. Now, we wait for Guillen's firing.
Edit: Valentine Says Coaches Undermined Him (http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/8457986/bobby-valentine-says-coaches-undermined-boston-red-sox)

This seems like a candidate for the most obvious manager dismissal of all time.

It was a stupid hire in the first place.

As we know, it was a mistake from day one. I think in the right environment, he can still be a good manager. Perhaps a younger, less established team needing the personality and instruction.

Boston gets what they deserve. One of the worst mangerial hires of the last several years.

Maybe he should try South Korea this time.

He had plenty of success in Japan.

Maybe the Red Sox should give Ozzie a try.

Maybe the Red Sox should give Ozzie a try.
:rolling: That would be a whole lot of fun.

Valentine was a horrible hire, yet they beat us pretty badly this year. Ugh!

Bobby V on the street cap in hand... I guess he didnt fit in the melodrama in Beantown. Fish out of water, or stinky fish to begin with?

Valentine did something that hadn't happened in Boston since 1965 - lose more than 90 games.

They had to do it. But that team is bad at the moment. The Orioles stole their mojo. Look at the schedule.
