Would you rather the sox be 65-91 at this point?

This is sooo funny.

Freep Tigers
You can tell Fernando Rodney that if he shoots that (arrow) three times in the next three days, I’ll be his cupid forever," Leyland said.

Leyland's ex-closer, Fernando Rodney, pretends to shoot arrow after each save, as he did in TB's opener of 4-game series Thur with W Sox.

And there it goes, grand salami

At this point I'm more disappointed in that salami, as I have Joaquin Benoit on my fantasy team (and my opponent has Morneau and Cabrera going in that game, as well), than I am in having a slim glimmer of hope that the Twins would win.

If the Twins can complete this huge comeback today, I can totally see it demolishing the Tigers' spirits. Get it done!

Morneau isn't what he used to be. He had a couple good pitches to hit from Valverde, but he couldn't connect.

Tigers 6, Twins 4, F.

EDIT: Tigers win.

Give the Tigers credit, they were under as much pressure as the Sox, if not more because they were behind with time running out.

Yet they got it done led by their superstars.

Even more frustrating to me is that it seems as if Detroit was sleepwalking their way through the season, yet they still won the damn thing. Almost like they could turn it on whenever they needed to.

Tigers clinch. Can't say they backed in, given that they've won seven out of eight.

Nevertheless, the Sox died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. 3-10 in the last 13 games. Go 7-6 in those 13, it's still a one-game lead for Chicago.

Just didn't happen. Really a shame.

Congrats to the Tigers. In crunch time these last few weeks they played like they wanted it while we didn't. I really thought the Sox would cruise with that 3 game lead, but Detroit took care of their own business.

That said, I hope the Yankees, Orioles or whoever hand them a 1st round playoff exit.

I cannot wait for that arrogant prick to get lit up in the playoffs. There is a lengthy list of horrible things I want to happen to him, but it's just not worth it to get worked up over a middle of the pack closer who's own fan base already hates him.

Thanks Francoeur for getting thrown out in the bottom of the eighth trying to stretch a single into a double when you are down 3 runs. What a dumb ass. The die hard that I am, I had to listen to that moribund "Denny" make the call on the XM Royals feed.

Who knows why but KC sucked to full potential against Detroit down the stretch - the CWS performance against them was the defining moment of the season.

I just don't get these anti tigers posts. Who gives a **** what the Tigers do. Them going 3 and out is still better than crashing and burning like we did. Seems like sour grapes to just sit here and bash them. I am hurt at our performance and their success or failure in postseason won't make me feel better/worse.

"If we do what we're supposed to do, these guys (the White Sox) are probably going to be in the playoffs" -- Billy Butler (before the Royals lost five straight to Detroit...)

It's not the Royals or the Twins or the Tigers...it's the White Sox.

They have no one to blame but themselves. Going 12-24 against two teams in your division is not the best way to increase your chances to get to the post season especially when one of those clubs was expected to win it.

He has "the right to troll us". I suppose so but there is something called celebrating with dignity and acting like a professional too. However, Valverde is far from acting professional on the diamond so it isn't surprising.

Valverde has 277 career saves, and I'm pretty sure he has acted like a douche after every single one of them.

Addison Reed has 29 career saves, yet he acts like he has done it before each time he closes out a game.

You're right; some people act like pros and some people don't. What can you do? Valverde won, so we have to put up with his ****. Just have to make sure he doesn't win next year.

Yep. No ill will towards the Tigers here. Cabrera's a joy to watch at the plate, Verlander is a master of his craft, etc etc. They can do whatever they want in the postseason.

Can't say that I blame Sox fans although I'm not advocating violence against the guy.

It hurts badly to Sox fans to come close again and have it shoved up their asses but then Sox fans actually care about winning and losing (as opposed to some other franchises...)

IIRC back in the '07 playoffs the Cubs were pretty vocal about Valverde's hot dogging when he was with the DBacks, particularly from a certain hot dogger named Ron Santo (talk about "pot meet kettle"!!!). Those archived threads make for some mighty interesting reading! http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=93418&highlight=valverde
